But studies are now showing that customers are willing to pay more on certain things. For example, a study by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capgemini.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/dcx-research-new-branding-web-version.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Capgemini<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> found that 81% of consumers are willing to pay more for a better digital customer experience.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Customer experience is, however, a large umbrella. What components would customers actually pay more for? Here are five major things that will make consumers want to pay a premium.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At #5: 42% would pay for friendlier service<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Think your business is customer-centric? You may want to think again. Capgemini reports that there\u2019s a huge disconnect between how companies perceive themselves (customer-centric) and how customers perceive them (non-customer-centric). It\u2019s unsurprising then that 42% of consumers would pay for friendlier, welcoming service, according to a report by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwc.com\/us\/en\/advisory-services\/publications\/consumer-intelligence-series\/pwc-consumer-intelligence-series-customer-experience.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PwC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How Much?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report shows that consumers would be willing to pay up to a 16% price premium. But it doesn\u2019t stop there. 63% of consumers would share more information to companies that offer a great customer experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your Print Business<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you run a brick-and-mortar print shop, make sure your representatives are friendly and knowledgeable. If you have an online shop, give your customers the option to speak to a live representative by chat, email, or phone. The <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pnas.org\/content\/pnas\/114\/32\/8523.full.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of British Columbia<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> discovered from an experiment that people were happier after spending money on time rather than on a physical item. Understandably, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwc.com\/us\/en\/advisory-services\/publications\/consumer-intelligence-series\/pwc-consumer-intelligence-series-customer-experience.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PwC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> found that 43% of global consumers would pay for greater convenience.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a disclaimer, not all consumers fall in the time-over-money camp. There is nevertheless a significant percentage that do.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How Much?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although there is limited research on this in the print industry, research in other industries show a willingness to pay for greater convenience. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwired.com\/press-release\/new-food-business-models-capture-5-to-25-premium-for-added-convenience-2192097.htm\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lux Research<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reported that in some new business models, clients are willing to pay more than an 11% premium on each added level of convenience for food.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile on eCommerce websites, clients are increasingly willing to give out information in order to conveniently access gated content. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your Print Business<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are two ways you can make ordering print easier for your customers:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Offer simple services like basic file fixes (e.g. adding bleed)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make sure that your website is easy to use (e.g. your product selection is well organized).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Tip:<\/strong> For an example of an easy-to-use print website, check out <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sinalite.com\/en_ca\/tools\/index\/redirect?page=home?utm_source%3Dblog%26utm_medium%3Dps%26utm_campaign%3Dmarketing%26utm_article%3D049%26utm_content%3DSinaLite\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SinaLite<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where clients who have signed up can place an order in two minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At #3: 47% would pay for faster delivery<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consumers\u2019 expectations of acceptable delivery times are changing. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropoff.com\/blog\/retail-delivery-consumer-survey-shoptalk-2018\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dropoff\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> survey found that 47% of US consumers have paid for faster delivery (same day or next day). Interestingly, eCommerce consumers are more willing to wait longer for an item if they get free shipping. In fact, 74% of US and Canadian eCommerce shoppers believe delivery cost is more important than timing. This is an important point to consider when offering online printing services.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your Print Business<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Having a faster delivery time could be what tips the scales in your favour when your clients are deciding between you and a competitor. Offer them different options for quick production turnarounds and fast shipping times at a premium cost, especially for products like flyers, business cards, and postcards.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At #2: 66% would pay for more sustainable goods<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Purchasing a product that is labelled as sustainable gives clients positive psychological affirmation, increases their loyalty to the brand, and more recently gives them a sense of prestige. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nielsen.com\/content\/dam\/nielsenglobal\/dk\/docs\/global-sustainability-report-oct-2015.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nielsen<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> found that 66% of global consumers would pay more for it, with Millennials at 73%.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How Much?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A graph from a study by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/business-functions\/sustainability-and-resource-productivity\/our-insights\/how-much-will-consumers-pay-to-go-green\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McKinsey &amp; Co.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> shows how much consumers are willing to pay a \u201cgreen premium\u201d by category.
